What would you do if you never had to think about money?

This week we had an interesting discussion about Universal Basic Income in a forum I'm part of. I've also synchronistically seen several conversations around "what would you do if you didn't have to think about money" on Twitter.

Trying to answer that question is a popular exercise. On the one hand, I think it's interesting and it helps you uncover your values and the kind of career projects you should consider engaging with. On the other hand, it seems a bit pointless to consider a hypothetical that will never apply.

You'll probably need to factor in money in your choices for the rest of your life, but there's also a non-zero chance that you'll be able to benefit from some UBI scheme. Contemplating that possibility helps me alleviate my resistance to the hypothetical.

What would you do if you never had to think about making money? You could do anything you wanted. Would you sink into playing video games 24/7? Would you travel the World? Would you watch TV, sleep a lot, read books, write them...?

I've yet to discover an answer that I find fully satisfying, but I think the current version is not too far from what I'd actually do: if I didn't have to factor in money in my decisions, I'd spend my time learning, exploring and creating.

Interestingly, that doesn't sound too far from what a regular career entails today.
